We had a special occasion so we decided to treat ourselves at Opus Steakhouse in Jericho. It is a beautiful space that is deceptively large. They even have an event space and a wedding was going on during our dinner. They really thought of everything in the design because the wedding did not impact our enjoyment of our meal.
We chose outside since the weather cooperated and it is extra special feeling dining outside. The waitstaff was incredible attentive and helpful. I have to remark that in the past, Opus and its prior incarnation had a reputation for disappointing and even arrogant service. We did not see that here and we really enjoyed the experience.
Even though Opus is a steakhouse we opted not to go for the steak. Instead, we started with a Chopped Salad and Lamb Meatballs for our appetizers. We followed this up with a Crab Cake, Lamb Chops and a Spicy Girl Sushi Order (Spicy Crunchy Crab, Cucumber, topped with Shrimp).

Normally, I order a Caesar Salad at a steak house but I have been woefully disappointed with them. So once our waiter informed us that the Caesar Salad was not prepared tableside, we went with the chopped salad. This was not a second-place salad. They nailed the ingredients.

The Lamb Meatballs was cooked to perfection and I would have been happy if this was my entrée dish.
I also learned the difference between a good crab cake and a great one. Spoiler Alert, this was a great crab cake. They cooked it and flavored it to the max. I could not have asked for a better crab cake.

The lamb chops were good. They were cooked to a medium rare as they should be. But it paled in comparison to the other dishes so I almost want to say it was mediocre but that would not be fair to the dish. It tasted good but was not in the same league as the other dishes we had. My sushi order was so fresh and tasty that I just wanted more of it. The craving is the difference between a dish being excellent and one being just good.

For our dessert, we ordered a Chocolate Laer Cake which had chocolate mousse, whipped cream and caramel cream. This was a really good cake and I would rate it in my top 5 but unfortunately it is not in the same league as the best. Juniors still serves the best chocolate cake bar none

In summary, Opus is a beautiful restaurant that delivers on its food and service, and atmosphere makes for special occasions. I would encourage you to try for a special event.
