🍩 The Battle of the Scoops: How Whit’s Frozen Custard Beats Delray’s Best Ice Cream

If you are looking for some dessert after dinner in Delray Beach, you have many options.  What we found when sent to Whit’s Frozen Custard was a line snaking outside. Always a good sign unless you are in a hurry.

Delray’s dessert scene is competitive. Just a short stroll away you’ll find iconic spots like Sloan’s Ice Cream, famous for its whimsical, over-the-top cones and retro vibe, and a little ways outside of downtown, Lily’s Handmade Ice Cream, beloved for its homemade scoops and generous toppings. Gelato lovers also flock to Duci Gelato Of Sicily, while fans of classic soft serve and creative twists can stop by Brendy’s Ice Cream & Yogurt or even Van Leeuwen for artisanal ice cream. Of course, we cannot forget about Kilwins which remains one of my favorites.  All offer different takes on frozen treats, making Delray Beach a sweet fanatic’s playground.  Last year, I was the biggest fan of Lily’s.

The question was how would Whit’s Frozen Custard stack up.  I was thankful for the line because it allowed me to review the menu and make my decision.  The first decision you have to make is do you decide to go with their specials or create your own.  If you go with a create your own, you have to decide if your frozen custard will be vanilla or chocolate or the special flavor of the week.  I decided to go with vanilla with bananas and hot fudge (basically a banana split).

Whit’s frozen custard tends to slightly denser and more indulgent than ordinary ice cream.  This only added to the taste.  Whit’s frozen custard is just plain delicious and definitely worth the hype. It’s the kind of place where you would go out of your way to visit and enjoy. 🍹🌞

In comparison to Lily’s Handmade Ice Cream, it is close but I still have Lily’s as my top ice cream place.  But Lily’s is geographically less convenient that Whit’s so maybe it could be close to a tie.

⭐ Final Scoop: Whit’s Frozen Custard of Delray is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth—especially if you love rich, silky custard and playful flavor twists in the middle of Delray Beach’s vibrant dessert scene.
