Scoop N Fruit Ice Cream

As the weather gets colder, we want to hang onto the last vestiges of summer so off we went to Scoop N Fruit in Glen Cove on School Street. We needed a positive ice cream experience especially after the disappointment that was Krisch’s. We had a great time speaking with the owner about his approach to ice cream. They serve traditional ice cream as well as New Zealand ice cream.

For those who do not know and I was one of them, New Zealand Style Ice Cream is commonly known as real fruit ice cream. As the name would apply, you start with a vanilla ice cream base and you add in real fruit. The key to this ice cream is the machine that takes hard packed ice cream with real frozen fruit and blends it together into a delicious, creamy soft serve-like treat.

I went with the vanilla ice cream and added in bananas and pineapple. I thought I was going to get a pina colada favored ice cream but the banana overwhelmed the pineapple. The New Zealand Ice Cream was definitely healthier than traditional ice cream with all the toping that I order. As to the taste, I am a big fan of New Zealand Ice Cream. The flavors really popped and enhanced my ice cream experience.

Other dessert or breakfast options include waffles and crepes. I would highly recommend a trip to Glen Cove for New Zealand Ice Cream experience.
