Pacha in Mineola: A Decent Option, But Not Quite a Standout

We wanted to find a new place for Peruvian Chicken.  We decided that we would try Pacha in Mineola.  The food was good but nothing truly memorable. It’s the kind of place you would visit if you’re in the neighborhood and have a craving, rather than one you would go significantly out of your way for.

The ambiance is generally pleasant, if a bit unremarkable. It’s often clean and functional, suitable for a casual meal with family or friends.

On the food front, Pacha delivers solid, standard Peruvian fare. You’ll find the usual suspects – lomo saltado, ceviche, pollo a la brasa – prepared competently. We went with the take out option and really liked their Family Style Options for Two and larger parties.  We ordered the Pollo a la Brasa Classic Combo which consisted of a whole chicken, house salad French fries and Aji Verde Sauce.  We also had one order of empanadas.

The empanadas had a really nice pastry shell but the filling was unremarkable. I was surprised with the addition of raisins but it definitely mixed it up.

The rotisserie chicken had a nice taste and the verde sauce added to it.  The salad and French fries did not really add to the meal.  I had nothing to complain about since everything tasted good but I felt like something was missing.  I compared it to Pio Pio and felt it was not in the same league.

In summary, Pacha in Mineola is a reliable choice for Peruvian food. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it also won’t disappoint. It’s a convenient and decent option, but perhaps not the first place that comes to mind when you’re seeking a truly great meal.
