Mark's of Madison NYC -- You Better Know What to Order

We ate at Mark’s Off Madison in NYC yesterday. A lovely place with great outdoor seating. Classic place to get a drink and some food.

We went for brunch and had a mixed feeling on it. The items we liked were excellent but the other items were just not that good. We started with the Crumb Cake, Nova Platter and the Josefoma’s Huevos. We then had the Bana-Stuffed Challah French Toast and the Palm Beach Salad.

First off, the Crumb Cake was dry and not tasty at all. The eggs were also sad looking and lacking any taste. If these were my only choices, I would have called the restaurant a loss. But on the positive side, the Nova Platter was beyond our expectation. It was on par with the Lox Platter from Sadelles.

The French Toast was also a highlight. I have to give my appreciation for the pure Vermont Maple Syrup. So many restaurants charge an extra few dollars for the real syrup, but at these prices, you have to include it. As to the Salad, it was ok but the shrimp were really tasty.

All in all, I would recommend Mark’s Off Madison but you really have to know what to order. Their food is uneven but when they are on, they are really good.
