Manhattan Joe's Pizza -- Polo Club
In my search for the best pizza in Boca Raton, I knew that I had to try some mediocre ones in order to find the best. We found Manhattan Joe’s Pizzeria in the Polo Club Shoppes in Boca Raton to be less than mediocre.
Our first impression was very positive. Manhattan Joe’s was a clean and traditional pizza place. No need for waitress service here. You order at the counter and then pick up the food and bring it to your table. Just like pizza shoppes in NYC.
The menu was small. Pizza, salads, heroes and a couple of sides. I love a place that can keep its offerings focused. This way, the can focus on what they do serve. All signs were pointed up!!
We ordered a chopped salad, a pizza and a side of meatballs. This is where the dining experience turned for me. The chopped salad only had half of the items that were listed on the menu. Annoying. The meatballs were cold and tasteless. Not a great experience.
On to the pizza, if they could deliver here than all will be forgiven. Unfortunately, their pizza could have been the worst one that I tasted since I had fast food pizza in Indiana. I look at the crust, tomato sauce and cheese in evaluating a pizza. In all three of these categories, Manhattan Joe’s failed. First, the crust tasted like a cracker. NY style pizza should not have that taste. Second, the tomato sauce was bland and third, the cheese tasted like it was left over from last week. In fact, I have had better pizza that was a week old.
I feel that that the use of Manhattan and pizza should mean something. In this case, Manhattan Joe’s must mean they sell pizza like they do in Manhattan, Montana. I highly recommend that you go to any pizza place other than Manhattan Joe’s!!!
