Little Maven in NYC delivers on both its food and hospitality

I met my daughter in NYC for brunch this past weekend.  We chose Little Maven, which is a modern American restaurant located in the Flatiron District of New York City. There were a bunch of red flags for me but they really delivered on the food and service.

General Vibe:

The restaurant has a trendy and vibrant atmosphere, with a focus on creating a welcoming and warm space.

The interior design is described as high-end and modern, featuring high ceilings, a color palette of deep mossy green and whites, terracotta marbled Turkish tile walls, and hand-painted murals.

Food:

Little Maven claims that the menu offers a variety of modern American dishes with some creative twists.  I have to disagree.  It is a French version of what they think is American dishes.  The brunch menu concerned me.  A brunch menu should have an omelet or eggs.  The closet thing on that was an egg white frittata or caviar scrambled eggs.

We ordered the Dutch Baby, Belgian Waffle and a modified Egg White Frittata along with the Tater Tots.

The major winners on the items we ordered were the Dutch Baby and the tater tots.  Both were delicious and prepared to perfection.

The Belgian Waffle was another good dish but their twist with the roasted apples and brown butter was a distraction which we dinged them for.

Our eggs were a mild disaster in how they came out.  We had a failure to communicate with the waiter on what we wanted and what was served.  Fortunately, the manager came over and addressed the situation.  She ended up having the kitchen prepare the dish as we requested.

I have to stop here and compliment the manager in addressing a customer issue.  This should be standard practice but unfortunately it has become a rare occurrence in our day and age.  The manager was the real star of this restaurant experience.  She turned an unfortunate event into a pleasurable experience.  She ended up buying us an order of chocolate chip cookies which was not even on the brunch menu.  These cookies could have been the best cookies I have all year!!

.Overall Experience:

Little Maven really delivered on our brunch experience.  Once our food was served as requested, everything tasted great.  The restaurant is run by a professional manager.  When a problem arises, they know how to deal with them and keep their customers happy.  I have to say, that we look forward to going back for dinner, especially to eat the chocolate chip cookie.
