Leo's Italian Restaurant, New Rochelle: It's... Fine.

I finally made it to Leo's Italian Restaurant in New Rochelle. And after my visit, I can confidently say it's... fine. It's perfectly adequate. If you're in the area and craving Italian, it'll do the job but that is all it is.
The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a neighborhood Italian joint – nice but nothing spectacular or offensive.
For dinner, we started with the Cheese Ravioli and Caesar Salad. The ravioli was the best thing we had all night. In hindsight, we should have ended our meal there. The Caesar Salad was just another salad with Caesar dressing mixed in. Nothing special.

We then ordered a couple of veal dishes. One Veal Sorrentino and the other Veal in White Wine Sauce. The chicken was cooked, the cheese was melted, and the sauce had a generic red sauce flavor. It wasn't bad, but that was all it was. Nothing special on the veal or sauce front. It was not tough but not tender either. The sauce was better than the sauce I buy in the jar but not up to the standards of really good Italian restaurants.

Service was not ideal. The waitstaff seems a little detached. My water glass was refilled, my order was taken, and my plate was cleared. No dazzling recommendations, no memorable banter, just the functional delivery of a meal. At times, the waiter disappeared and we were just waiting for the next course.
Overall, Leo's Italian Restaurant is the kind of place you go to when you need Italian food. I wish I could say a quick meal but that was not in the cards here. It's not going to win any awards for innovation or blow your mind with flavor. But if you are looking for a neighborhood place, Leo's has you covered.
