With the closing of the La Bottega in Roslyn, we needed to find a replacement shop that serves excellent paninis. As quick refresh, La Bottega in Roslyn set gold standard for paninis for at least a decade.
First Up is La Bottega in Glen Cove. At first impression, we were doubtful since this La Bottega is on the edge of a strip mall. But its outside seating did entice to us give it a chance. We ordered a Chicken Nuoro Panini and an Insalata di Carciofi (Salad with Chicken).

The salad was really good and so big that we had half of it left over for lunch today. The panini as we expected, was the start of the show. So what is the secret of why La Bottega excels on their paninis. It comes down to a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients, expertly crafted combinations, and a commitment to producing the best sandwich that they can.
Their bread is crisp on the outside and tender within, is ideal for pressing, holding its integrity without becoming soggy or overly dense. They use premium Ingredients like fresh mozzarella to roasted vegetables and flavorful spreads. Their menu choices also compliments the food with ingredients working together.
What does it for me is that in our time where anyone and their brother can serve a panini or some kind of grilled sandwich, La Bottega stands out. It is almost like they are not producing sandwiches but upholding a tradition of quality and flavor. For anyone seeking the definitive panini experience on Long Island, La Bottega isn’t just an option—it’s the only standard.
