Opa Grille — Unexpected Greek Surprise

We went to Opa Grille in Williston Park this past weekend (Opa Grille). Skipping the traditional method of mentioning the good then going the bad. The environment is sterile with not more ambience. The first question to ask is what is more important for you, ambience or food quality?

If you answered food quality rather than decor, this is the restaurant for you.

We started with the sampler platter of dips

Very good especially the Taramasalata. I would argue that the portion sizes were small and could be beefed up.

Following that we had a side of falafel which was not on the menu but our waitress was happy to provide for us.

My take was this was the best part of the meal. They were fresh, light and tasty. A little spicy for my wife’s taste.

Following that I convinced my wife to order the Seafood Combo, partly because it looked really good but also because my wife rarely eats anything after the salad course. In the combo, you start with a greek salad and then you have stuffed filet of sole, octopus and stuffed shrimp. Our waitress thought that this would be enough for both of us but not for me.

The salad was fresh and tasty

The rice was ok but the highlight of the dish was the stuffed shrimp which was stuffed with crab meat.

I ordered a chicken gyro sandwich

A little bland but my wife’s dish more than made up for mine.

In the final analysis, we highly recommend this restaurant and recommend ordering their specials.
