LG Beef of the Week

I decided to start our beef of the week. In it we will focus on issues we have with our local restaurants. While these issues or concerns may be applicable to everyone, I can assure you that they bother me.

Today, we will focus on restaurants that decide to seat their customers in the worst seats first. That typically happens to me when I show up and the restaurant is not even half full and they take me to a table in the back near the kitchen. I do not know about you but sitting near the kitchen with all the traffic can be disruptive to my quiet enjoyment of dinner. Waiters are going in and out all the time. The kitchen staff can be very vocal at times. Plates and dishes crash and get spilled. Not the best situation.

So why do restaurants do this? It could be that they feel that I am a disruptive patron. Possibly. More likely, they try to unload these awful tables first so that they have better tables for others or for people who complain. While these tables are not ideal, early patrons should not have to argue against them just so that the restaurant can avoid an issue later in the evening.

The more cynical person could argue that restaurants do this in the hopes that we will tip the host or hostess to find us a better table. If that is the case, then shame on the restaurant.

If you know why restaurants do this, let us know.
