Tacombi Westbury -- A Big Miss

I was picking up a few things at the Costco in Westbury. It was crowded as usual since the strip mall has Costco, Walmart, Total Wine and Marshalls. I had to park in the back of the parking lot near Tacombi. My first thought is that I should have driven the extra 15 minutes to the Costco in Melville since you can find parking relatively easily. My second thought is to go to the Oceanside Costco but that is like a 30 minute drive but on the positive side the Costco sells alcohol. If you have never purchased alcohol from Costco, you do not know what you are missing.

After finishing my shopping and trekking back to the car, I wanted to try Tacombi to see how their Tacos compare to all the other taquerias that have spring up. I loved the vibe of Tacombi with its indoor/outdoor seating and all of the open space. I asked the waiter what I should order and decided to go with the Carne Asada Taco.

That is where my disappointment started. It was a greasy mess. For $6.95, it was really small, the meat was overcooked, the corn taco itself needed a minute or so on the grill, onions and jalapeno gave it a nice taste, but not enough to save it. If I had to do it again, I would have eaten at a 7Eleven instead.

With all the other taco places around, there is no need to visit Tacombi and you would be better served with any one of them.
