Review of Little Gull Cafe
With much excited, I headed back to the Little Gull Café, which is nestled inside the old Speonk train station. My last time at the Little Gull Café was culinary delight so I was excited for my return.
Ambiance and Setting
The cafe’s location inside the historic train station adds a unique charm to the dining experience. With just eight tables inside and a few tables outside, it is an intimate setting that makes you feel like you are part of a small-town community. The decor is simple yet inviting, with a touch of rustic elegance that complements the overall atmosphere.
Menu Highlights
Little Gull Cafe offers a delightful menu that features a mix of breakfast and lunch dishes. The standout item is their homemade biscuit with jam. Unfortunately for us, they ran out of them at 10:00 am when we sat down at 1:00 pm. I am at a loss on how they could run out of their best item so early in the day. We overheard other tables bemoaning the fact that they had no biscuits.
We decided to share a bunch of things including the Chicken Salad Sandwich, Tuna Melt, Remsenburger, Buttermilk Pancakes and Sweet Potato Gratin. We absolutely loved the Remsenburger and the Chicken Salad Sandwich. The homemade bread really delivered.
The Tuna Melt had too much dill for my liking and the Pancakes were burnt and needed more chocolate chips.
Service
The service at Little Gull Cafe is friendly and attentive. The staff is known for their warm hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
Overall Experience
Overall, Little Gull Cafe offers a charming and memorable dining experience. While half of our dishes were disappointing, the other half were extremely good. I guess this is a place you need to know what to order. All in all, I would head back to the Little Gull Café if only for their Biscuits. Better they need to make more of them so that they are available after noon.
