Is Regal Kosher Deli Worth the Hype? An Honest Review

Regal Kosher Deli and Caterers in Plainview blends retro 1950s appeal with a fresh, contemporary dining room.

Here is how the food stacked up:

Mushroom Barley Soup: They served a surprisingly light and broth-like soup stock. a departure from the usual thick consistency, but delicious on its own terms.  It is difficult to compare it to other musroom barley soups.  But in the end, we gave it the thumbs up.

The Hot Dog: The absolute highlight. Perfectly charred and balanced with tangy sauerkraut and zesty deli mustard.  Star of the show

Pastrami Sandwich: A bit of a letdown given the hype that I saw online as well as from the staff.. The ultra-thin carve was unique, but the flavor of the pastrami was muted. True pastrami should pack a punch from the curing and spices, which was missing here.

It was a decent meal, but if you’re chasing Long Island’s absolute best pastrami, Lido Kosher remains unbeatable.
