Rant of the Day -- 7Eleven Charging Inflated Prices

I have to apologize for this rant since it is not really related to food but something happened at a 7Eleven that really bothered me.

I was in the 7Eleven on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola picking up a Diet Coke and when I went to pay the cashier the soda rang up $1 more than the price listed. Now I can understand mistakes on sale items but a $1 mistake on a $2 item is ridiculous. When I highlighted this to the cashier, her only response is that the item is ringing up for this amount. After some back and forth, we walked down to the soda isle and the price by the soda confirmed what I was saying. She took the price sticker and it still rang up as $3 rather than $2. She looked at me and expected me to pay the inflated price. I responded on how can she expect me to pay more than the listed price even if it rang up higher. After apologizing to the growing line of customers, I paid my price and left.

I am annoyed because I hate being ripped off and I wonder how else is this 7Eleven ripping off other customers? Are they inflating all of their prices and hoping that no one notices. And the gall of the cashier to want people to pay more than the listed price is appalling.

I am contemplating filing an overcharge compliant with the Nassau County Consumer Affairs. What do you think I should do?
