For those of you who are not in the know, Newsday published an article discussing the closure of Publicans in Manhasset. It closed this past Sunday. Publicans was a time-tested, storefront tavern with rustic-chic decor, pub grub & craft beer, plus weekend brunch. Publicans had gone through multiple owners and styles in the last 25 years.
Of most interesting note, is that the new owners already have plans for the space. It will be renamed Angie’s and will be a family-friendly restaurant with an American Coastal Vibe. For those like me, American Coastal Vibe is a relaxed, airy aesthetic that blends natural elements and seaside inspired colors to create a warm, comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance may be similar to Salt in Merrick and Ocean in Bayville. Time will tell.
They are doing a significant amount of work and hope to open in December. If it is like so many other restaurant re-openings, I would wager that the December launch date will slip. There are so many restaurants who have seen their launch dates move from construction delays. Let us hope that they remain on track.
I am most excited about wagyu hot dogs. I love the Kobe beef version at Hendricks so I hope they will be similar.
