Monday Rant -- Restaurants Not Caring About Their Customers

I went to a local diner and ordered an omelette and a blueberry muffin. The omelette was fine but the muffin tasted aweful. Something was definitely off with the muffin. Since i was running late, I did not bring it up with the waiter. When I went to pay the bill, the manager asked me how my breakfast was and I told him how aweful the muffin was. His response was that he know because he saw the bakery cook put too much baking soda in the mix. He then proceeded to charge my credit card for the entire bill amount (with no credit for the aweful muffin).

My rant is two fold. First, if you knew the muffin or any other food was going to taste bad, how could you serve that in good conscience. Basically you are admitting that you do not care about the quality of food at your restaurant or the product that your customer is consumming. What should have been done is that they should have thrown the mix away and started again. What is wrong with you serving food that you know is bad!!

Second part. If you ask a customer how a meal was and he complains. You then proceed to acknowledge and accept responsibility for the problem. How do you not compensate the customer for the bad food that you served him? He could have deducted the muffin from the bill or offered something else in its place.

As a result of these actions/inactions, this diner created a horrible experience for me and I will have to think twice about ever eating there again.

How Would You React. Click Here to let me know.
