John's Farms: A Fish Lover's Paradise

We were having friends over for dinner and wanted to get a good red snapper without having to fish for it myself. I have been disappointed with the local fish stores and do not get me started with the fish at supermarkets. I headed over to John’s Farms in Plainview. Initially, I was not impressed with the overall market. The meat and fruit did not provide me with a whole bunch of comfort. They look tired.

Once I reached the fish section, I was now impressed with the quantity and quality of their fish. I would have to wager that they are a stand alone unit of the market. They had salmon, red snapper, lobster, calms, shrimp, cod, halibut and much more. I must warn you that it is crazy in there. You need to take a ticket and wait patiently. But there are some customers who waiting in not in their blood so watch out.

If you order a fish fileted then good luck getting it back. It is such a challenge.

But in the end it is all worth it. The fish is so fresh and tasty. I suggest that you go early or plan for a considerable amount of time for their fish. I will warn you that they only accept cash.
