I just saw this on Instagram that Jade King in Roslyn Heights is closing. There are a few things that are surprising about this. First, it is closing due to a significant rent hike by the owner of the property. Jade King has been around for a really long time. There is a suggestion that Chipotle will be coming in its place.
Many local residents have expressed their sadness about this closure. I am not one who will miss Jade King. I felt that their food was not at the level of better Chinese restaurants nearby. It was a good restaurant by the standards of Florida but not here in New York. I feel that Danny’s Chinese serves better food!
The last surprising thing is that a Chipotle may be going into this space. Did this just happen or did Chipotle’s desire for the space cause Jade King to lose their lease? Also, why do we need a Chipotle. Talk about lowering the quality of the food offering in that neighborhood.
In the end, it is sad when a long time restaurant closes and it is even worse when it is replaced by an inferior product.
