Hilltop Kitchen and Bar
This past weekend, we went to Hilltop Kitchen and Bar in Syosset. Hilltop took over a space that was a Friendly’s for what seemed to be forever but was there for almost 40 years (I used to love their PattyMelt’s)
Hilltop does not take reservations unless you are a party of 6. We were not so we put our name down and was told that they had a wait of approximately 30 minutes. We grabbed a drink and sat outside (which was screened so you did not know you were on Jericho Turnpike in the parking lot)
It turns out our table was ready in 10 minutes but we were enjoying our drinks. We told them that they would have to wait for us. That was a pleasurable thing to do. When we were finished with our drinks, we were seated promptly.
For appetizers, we shared the pretzel and the nachos
Both were surprisingly good. I went with a soup and salad while my wife ordered the salmon
We really enjoyed our meal. The waitress was extremely nice and apologized that our drinks took so long to be served. She explained that a bartender was out so they were short staffed. I really appreciated this. As a result, Hilltop Kitchen and Bar delivered on our food and dining experience. We give it the thumbs up.
