The Cove Glen Cove -- Come Only for the View

We went to the Cove Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Glen Cove. The views make this restaurant. I should stop there!!

I had low expectations on the food since these restaurants tend to be all about the view and the bar scene. We had spicy feta and humus dips and seared tuna.

The Cove did not disappoint because the food was mediocre at best. In fact, I would say that it was a disappointment even with our low expectation. The tuna was sitting out in the kitchen for a while or at least that is how it tasted. Because other than the stale taste it did not have any taste. I never tasted such a bland tuna in my life.

The bar scene on the other hand as hopping. There were so many young people that it surprises me that they bother keeping the restaurant open.

The thing that really annoyed me about the restaurant was the fact that we ordered a lamb meatball appetizer and it was not served until at least 10 minutes after our entrees were served. We had moved past the appetizer portion of our meal. When the bill came, we asked for an adjustment since we did not get the meatballs until too late. The management of the restaurant replied well you did not send them back?? That really annoyed us.

When the waiter told us this response we were befuddled. To the waiter’s credit, he took out the cost of the appetizer and gave it to us in cash. I have never seen that before. Needless to say, we did not take his money and did tip him our regular amount.

As to the Cove Restaurant and Oyster Bar, I will not be going back due to the low quality of its food and its poor management style. I guess I will wait until the next restaurant takes over this space (it has been a revolving door of restaurants for the past 10 years).
