COBS Bread Shutters Plainview Store, Cancels Carle Place Expansion

We found out that COBS Bread here on Long Island has not worked out.  They have closed their Plainview location and scrapped plans for their new store in Carle Place.  The Plainview location closed months after its grand opening in May.  The Carle Place location was in development but never opened.

The Plainview bakery, located at 353 South Oyster Bay Road, greeted customers with a simple notice taped to its door: “We would like to apologize for any inconvenience, this location is now closed.” Its opening earlier this year was marked by a celebratory ribbon-cutting, making the swift closure a surprise to many.

COBS Bread is an internationally Australian bakery franchise and is known known for baking all its products fresh daily without added preservatives.

We really do not know why these locations did not work.  The one thing we do know is that one of favorite bakeries, The Bakery in Planview closed 7 years ago.  At one time, the Bakery was one of my favorite bakeries.  It may be the location that can not support bakeries of this nature.  There is a French Workshop, a bakery in the next strip mall down the road.  It has been around for awhile so I hope it is successful and continues to be.
