Besito Roslyn -- Upscale Mexican That Delivers

With the influx of all the new Taco places on Long Island, we decided to go old school and eat at Besito in Roslyn. For those of you are uninitiated, Besito refers to itself as a sophisticated spot serving inventive takes on Mexican classics in a dramatically decorated room. That is a mouthful but right. It is definitely an upscale Mexican that caters to the high end of the Mexican cuisine.

It was a fan favorite for years but fell out of favor about 6 years ago as the bar scene there kept taking off. As we became older the crowd became younger which can be an awkward situation. But regardless we trekked over to Roslyn to see how Besito held up.

Our first impress was very positive with the decor providing a major Mexican theme. Our waitstaff was attentive and helpful. We decided to go with a bunch of appetizers after noshing on the tortilla chips

We ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup, Empanadas, Fish Tacos and Chicken Quesadilla.

Everything was really good. The star of the show was the Chicken Tortilla Soup which was served as a high soup. This means that they put a little presentation into the serving. They brought out the soup bowl with the chicken and tortillas in it. Then they proceeded to pour the soup into the bowl is artistic manner. It was very well presented. As to the taste, the soup was great.

As to the other food, the weakest items was the Quesadilla which was nothing special but still enjoyable. The empanadas was our second choice. The last remaining dish was the fish taco and while it does not compare to San Diego Fish Tacos, Besito did a respectable job.

All in all, we had a great evening and will put Besito back into the mix.
