We were invited out to dinner at the Marker in Glen Cove. It a newly renovated restaurant located at the Glen Cove Golf Course. The restaurant is owned by the same people who run the Brass Rail and Heirloom Tavern (among other restaurants) and we love these restaurants. Our hopes were high for the Marker.
Once you enter, you can see the panoramic views of the Long Island Sound. It almost reaches the level of breathtaking. The interior is a comfortable setting along with a vibrant bar scene. The only downside to the interior is that it could become pretty noisy with a large crowd.
Food & Drinks:
The Marker’s menu starts as an eclectic American cuisine and includes a bunch of Italian options.
We started with a Caesar Salad, a Blackened Salmon Taco and a Crab Cake.

The Caesar Salad and the Taco were good but the star of the appetizers was the Crab Cake.

For an entrée, I had the Fish Sandwich but grilled and blackened. They really outshined themselves with this dish. I was really happy with my choice.

We decided that we needed to try a few sides so we ordered the Ricotta Gnocchi and the Mac & Cheese. I really like the Gnocchi!!

I thought the Mac & Cheese was a little bland but others at our table enjoyed it.
Service:
Our waitress was really nice but that is as far as I can go in complimenting it. The meal service was a disaster. I was served my appetizer after another person was served their main course. Drinks took forever. Right after my appetizer was served, my main course came out. One of these dishes was going to be cold before I ate it. I can chalk this subpar service to growing pains since the restaurant is open less than a year. If they do not fix it, then I do not know how they can survive.
Overall:
The Marker is considered a great addition to the Glen Cove dining scene, offering amazing scenic views and delicious food. The major area for improvement is their service. If you leave out the service issues, I would rate this restaurant a solid 8.5
